«The great Reds of Italy»
Did you know that Italy has the most indigenous grapes than any other country in the world?
There are almost 400 varieties used commercially, though there are estimates of at least 1600 more in existence waiting to be explored. This makes Italy the richest viticultural country in terms of diversity. It also boasts some of the greatest wines produced, particularly in terms of its reds.
Come join us in a webinar where we will travel across Italy’s grandest winemaking regions from north to south, including Piedmont, Veneto, Tuscany and Campania, focusing on some of its incredible reds – Barolo, Amarone, Brunello, Super Tuscan and Taurasi.
Presented by Robin Kick, one of only five Masters of Wine residing in Switzerland. Feel free to open a bottle or two from one of these four regions during this hour-long voyage on November 3 from 18h00-19h00.
Robin Kick MW
Originally from the Chicago area, Robin is presently based in Lugano where she is working as an independent buying & marketing consultant, wine judge, educator and journalist.
Following an intensive course at France’s eminent l’Université du Vin in the Rhône Valley, Robin began her wine career in 1999 as a wine specialist for Christie’s auction house in Beverly Hills, California. For four years, she appraised cellars, advised clients on collecting, organised wine events and tasted through hundreds of rare and collectible bottles.
A deep interest in pursuing the Master of Wine as well as being closer to European vineyards led her back to Europe in 2003. Here, she lived for ten years in London, spending seven of them as the wine buyer for an award-winning fine wine merchant renowned for its Burgundy and Bordeaux list.
In 2013, she moved to Lugano and in 2014 after many years of study, she became a Master of Wine, one of only 5 in Switzerland and currently the only woman.
Though her specialist areas are France, Italy and Switzerland, she has visited most viticultural regions throughout Europe as well as those of the United States, Australia and South America.
