AI promises to greatly enrich most fields of human endeavor, but it also poses many potential threats to human rights, which are being quietly but systematically eroded. Some forms of AI have the potential to facilitate new forms of inhumane warfare, exacerbate extremes of inequality, destroy privacy, and undermine democracy. Philip Alston, who is Professor of Law at New York University and United Nations Special Rapporteur on Extreme Poverty and Human Rights, argues that it is time to pushback against these trends in a lecture to be given at University of Zurich (RAA-G-01) on May 2nd, 2019 from 17:30-19:00.
